Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in strength within the city.
Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of characters who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
According to the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the events of episode 3 show why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing started the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
Casimir then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each adventurer has a individual motive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and warns that it is a nasty place.
- The strong character and The healer, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their status as key figures in the influential clan could assist the team enter places they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The target is marked for death by House Halovar.
This results in them few options but to head to the northern region in quest for the traitor.
