'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith continues battle with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he remembers the dramatic final moments of his team's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. That match culminated with Galbraith picking up a supporter's spectacles after the pitch-side pile-on.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a long-range effort from outside the box, and Cameron Burgess quickly slammed home the loose ball before charging toward the crowd to revel in the moment, with fans congregating around the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The victory sealed an extraordinary turnaround given the Welsh side had been behind 2-0 midway through the second half. In the euphoria, there was some collateral damage. Galbraith explained, "There was a supporter shouting out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The result earned a next round game at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a club Galbraith came close against at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. The athletic midfielder had a prime vantage point when the underdogs took the lead in stunning style, with Jamie Donley's volley from about long distance going in via the bar and the Stefan Ortega. It feels criminal that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've awarded it to him for taking the effort on from that range," commented Galbraith, who played in the middle before switching to right wing-back after they changed tactics. That meant competing with City's winger, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the winger was among the opposition who praised the way the underdogs attacked the game.

City's Quality

"Athletically they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and basic skills, they can just perform consistently," the midfielder notes. "It appears that they never miss a pass and they know how to dictate and take the sting out of a game. You can think you're all right and then suddenly they will just fizz a pass between defenders without you even seeing. You have to be switched on at all times of the game. It demands a resilient mindset and attention just to stay in the game."

New Chapter

Swansea were keen on Galbraith in January and beat off competition to sign him in the summer in a significant move. He made a name as a crowd pleaser across multiple campaigns at Leyton Orient and has swiftly achieved similar status in south Wales. At his previous team he linked up again with his former manager, who previously gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in professional games on loan at Doncaster from Old Trafford. Then came a spell at fourth-tier Salford City, before he permanently left Old Trafford.

Development Path

"I was probably a slightly green going into men's football. I think many athletes would say youth team games is completely distinct. Sometimes it feels like play is circulated without much intensity. There's not many hard challenges. Once you start playing men's games you have to learn quickly."

Country Call-ups

He has shown that maturation for both domestically and internationally, performing well for the Green and White Army, who remain in contention for the global tournament next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has featured in the past five games, including both legs encounters against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's ex- international manager, offered the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he controls possession and his eye for a decisive through ball.

Humble Beginnings

This represents a remarkable path for the kid from the Queens Park estate in the Belfast suburb, just outside Belfast, who used to see his father, Stuart, also a central player, play for a local club.

Old Trafford Memory

The player's sole appearance for United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a Europa League trip to Astana, where they featured on an plastic turf and the stadium roof was closed owing to the weather of -15C. "That proved to be a extended travel and it was chilly," he recalls, smiling. "The week before, the academy prospects trained together, so that assisted our preparation. Just to travel with the first team and earn some playing time at the end was incredible."

Leaving United

What was the challenge was it to depart Manchester United, the club he transferred from aged a teenager? "This turned out fairly simple, because I arrived at the moment where I realized I couldn't establish myself at the top level. I'm very appreciative for the years at the club but it reached a stage where I believed I needed to go my own route, drop down the leagues and play men's football. Now I'm gradually progressing again."

New Environment

This occurs during the early part of the afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has an appointment at the early evening: a driving theory test, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Before his recent move to Sketty, the 24-year-old was a constant rider in Swansea's so-called team minibus, a minibus driven by club employees, the drivers, which transports players to and from training and matches.

"I travel with Gonçalo Franco, the Brazilian, an Ivorian player – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's pleasant to socialize with the guys but I'm planning to be the following person out of the minibus and on the road. Franco likes to pull a few pranks; he's constantly causing mischief."

Public Engagement

While playing for Orient, Galbraith would blend in with fans on the Tube after commuting at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
